WIZZ AIR MAY TRAFFIC UP 26% YEAR-ON-YEAR,
LOAD FACTOR UP 0.5ppt
Ticker: WIZZ
Geneva, 2 June 2026: Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air") reported an increase in load factor of 0.5ppts in May 2026 at the same time as growing passenger numbers by 26%.
Wizz Air carried 7.13 million passengers in May, an increase of 26% year-on-year, with capacity rising 25.4% to 7.77 million seats. This marks an acceleration into the summer season from the 22% year-on-year growth in passengers reported for April. The load factor for the month of May was 91.7%, up 0.5ppts year-over-year.
During the month:
· Tel Aviv services resumed on May 28. Having suspended flights to Israel on the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East, Wizz Air resumed operations on May 28, looking to reconnect Israel to multiple destinations in Europe, including Athens, Bratislava, Bucharest, Budapest, Krakow, Larnaca, London, Milan, Rome, Sofia, and Warsaw.
· Italian expansion continues apace with further aircraft allocations announced. Underlining Wizz Air's position as Italy's second largest carrier, the airline will base an 11th aircraft at Milan Malpensa starting Sept. 14, a third aircraft at Naples from Dec. 14 and a fourth aircraft at Catania starting Dec. 14. This builds on Wizz Air's increasing footprint in Italy, which has seen based aircraft grow from 29 aircraft in summer 2025 to 41 this summer across seven Italian bases.
· Wizz Air entered into a distribution agreement with travel technology provider Atlas. The agreement gives Atlas' corporate travel partners access to Wizz Air's content through an API connection. This follows similar deals with Kyte and Travelfusion, which allows Wizz Air to distribute its content via corporate travel booking channels.
· UEFA Champions League final in Budapest. Wizz Air operated 77 incremental flights for football fans from London and Paris across the last three-days of the month, achieving a 99.9% load factor.
