WIZZ AIR CARRIES 22% MORE PASSENGERS IN APRIL
Ticker: WIZZ
Geneva, 5 May 2026: Wizz Air Holdings Plc ("Wizz Air") reports 22% year-on-year passenger growth in April 2026.
Wizz Air carried 6.63 million passengers in April, a 21.9% increase year-on-year, with capacity rising 23.1% to 7.46 million seats. The load factor for the month was 88.9%, down 0.9 ppts year-over-year.
During the month:
· Additional aircraft announced for Palermo. Following the January announcement that two A321neos will be based at Palermo's Falcone Borsellino airport starting August 1st, a third aircraft will be added on September 6th. This third based aircraft will enable Wizz Air to launch two new domestic routes - to Rome Fiumicino (3x daily) and Pisa (10x weekly) - alongside international services to Barcelona, Dortmund, Marrakech and Prague.
· Turin announced as the seventh base in Italy: Wizz Air will base two A321neos in Turin in October 2026, doubling this year's originating capacity from the city to over 1 million seats. This expansion further cements Wizz Air's position as Italy's second-largest carrier.
· Wizz Air ranked as Europe's most emissions efficient airline. Wizz Air secured the number one spot in Europe in Cirium's 2025 EmeraldSky Annual Review, the independent benchmark for airline emissions efficiency.
· CEO emphasizes financial robustness: In response to erroneous comments carried by the media, Wizz Air's CEO Jozsef Varadi reaffirmed the company's financial stability. He noted that the airline maintains strong liquidity and is well hedged, having secured approximately 70% of its summer jet fuel needs at around US$720/MT.
